And so, It Began … Sofia Ajami was born on October 11 th , 2011 in Dubai, to a middle-class Persian family with passion for knowledge, beauty and divine, she was named Sophia so she might pursue the love of Wisdom in her life. Sofia began reading flawlessly by the age of three on her own and surprised everyone with her peculiar attention to details, especially signs and symbols. Her passion for wisdom grew day by day and this yearning inspired her father to set out on a new path for her and the family. Their migration to a new country opened a lot of free time and opportunities for the family, especially her father, who closed down his business to focus on his own passion of collecting antique manuscripts and tutoring Sofia in her pursuit of the unknown.

Sakartvelo- the land of Kartvelians In 2018, Sofia migrated to Tbilisi, Georgia with her family and this became the beginning of a new chapter in her life. Georgia, an Orthodox Christian country with a very long history, vibrant culture, traditions and values offered the young Sofia an entirely new horizon to continue investigating when she already learned in Dubai. This was a new world for her curious mind, full of new mysteries, symbols, and signs. Thus, she began to explore this magnificent new world where the influence of Christianity was very ancient and very profound.

The Magic of number Eleven The number 11 has always been a magical number for Sofia. She was born on October 11 th , 2011 and just 11 years after her birthday in 2022 here she was the world’s youngest scholar and collector of historic Orthodox icons. With great curiosity and enthusiasm for symbology, alchemy, and mysticism, it was natural that Sofia became interested in iconography. Certainly, her father’s academic background in philosophy and mysticism along with his professional career as a successful expert and dealer in Islamic manuscripts and art helped her with the initial resources and networks required in her newly discovered passion of collecting. The Sofia Ajami collection is mostly focused on the historic icons of the Orthodox Church; however, she is also working in other fields such as Spanish Colonial art and more…

The silence of an icon speaks without our limited words.
